An old, early-ripening dessert apple from Somerset, Beauty of Bath has long been popular in Ireland, especially with children, for its juicy, sharp-sweet flavour and early harvest. It produces medium-sized, red-striped apples with a distinctive pink-stained flesh and is known for its excellent scab resistance.

🍎 Fruit:

  • Size & Colour: Medium-sized, slightly flattened fruit

  • Skin: Pale greenish-yellow with bold red stripes

  • Flesh: Creamy-white, often pink-stained

  • Flavour: Juicy and sharp, mellowing to sweet in later fruit

  • Harvest: August – one of the earliest apples to ripen

  • Storage: Does not keep – best eaten fresh or juiced

  • Notes: May drop fruit as it ripens – spread straw beneath tree to prevent bruising
